Maritime English Learning Materials Based on Standard Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Curriculum and Intercultural Competence (IC)

The objectives of this study is to investigate 1) the current existing conditions Maritime English learning materials Deck Department Education and Training (MET), 2) needed by students 3) intercultural competences students. This conducted qualitative method. respondents research are active students, lecturers, retired seafarers, cadets, port authority, administration staff. They taken purposive random sampling. data collected questionnaire, documentary sheet, in depth interview. analyzed descriptive qualitative. results show that generally Materials mostly not line with STCW’10 need be developed order meet minimum standard Standard Certifications Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW’2010), there various topics terms both language content or professional subjects, contents also before they go work at sea effectively communicate other crew different cultural background.
